Alumni IVApril 11 - June 5, 1999
After a yearlong hiatus from its exhibition schedule due to the Fine Arts Center's lobby construction, the University Museum of Contemporary Art is pleased to be reopening with a celebration of the University's art alumni. Alumni IV, the fourth in a series of juried art alumni invitational exhibitions held in the University Museum of Contemporary Art every five years, will feature the work of eleven graduates of the University's Department of Art. Juried by Hugh M. Davies and Linda Shearer, the exhibition will run from April 10 through June 5.

Jurors for the invitational included two major figures in the field of contemporary art: Linda Shearer, Director of the Williams College Museum of Art and Hugh M. Davies, Director of the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego. They gathered at the University Museum of Contemporary Art this past fall and reviewed over 1,000 slides from 105 graduates of the Department of Art. Shearer has organized many exhibitions at Williams as well as the Museum of Modern Art, where she previously directed their project series. Davies has curated exhibitions on the West Coast and here at the university as the University Museum of Contemporary Art's founding director.
