After surviving the apocalypse, five men must build a machine to help them find other survivors. They’ll do whatever it takes to navigate this brave new world without electricity, telephones, computers … or women. The results are anything but grim. You’ll find yourself a guest at a deliriously intoxicating party—part circus, part slapstick, part rock concert. Hilarious, heart-tuggingly nostalgic, surprisingly moving, and a whole lot of awesome, this show will make you stand up and clap for humanity.

Machine de Cirque grew out of creative sessions five years ago between juggler-acrobats Raphaël Dubé and Yohann Trépanier, along with percussionist Fred Lebrasseur, under the artistic direction of Vincent Dubé, Machine de Cirque’s president and general manager. The process resulted in a public performance in 2013 that went beyond all expectations, and a new company was born. Later that year, the acrobatic duo of Maxim Laurin and Ugo Dario joined the team. The premiere of the company’s first production was in 2015, at the Théâtre de la Bordée in Quebec City.
In their current show, set 15 years after the apocalypse, five men have managed to survive. The troupe masterfully manipulates various props—a teeterboard, juggling clubs, a drum kit, even a bath towel—as they pursue their quest to find other survivors, with the help of a most astounding machine.

Ride the wind and dream with Air Play, a modern spectacle that brings to life the very air we breathe. Flying umbrellas, larger-than-life balloons, giant kites floating over the audience, and the biggest snow globe you’ve ever seen will make you gasp in wonder and laugh until it hurts. With visual images seemingly sown from the sky, this poetic ode to childhood will enchant and electrify the young and young at heart. PLUS Revealing the Magic: Stay after the performance for a special presentation by the artists about their creative process.

Moonfish Theatre's “Star of the Sea”
Tuesday & Wednesday, October 3 & 4 at 7:30 p,m.Bowker Auditorium
It is the winter of 1847, and the famine ship Star of the Sea is setting sail for the promised land of America with passengers whose lives and fates are more connected than any of them know. Told through Moonfish’s signature style of bilingual theater, the cast of six, plus video projections, choreographed movement, and inventive sound effects, conjures up the worlds of those passengers. Adapted from Joseph O’Connor’s best-selling novel, this powerful production traces the effects of the Irish Famine through to the present. Performed in Irish and English.

The Underwater Bubble Show
Thursday, November 30 at 7 p.m.Fine Arts Center Concert Hall
Plunge into a glistening blend of laser technology, snow cannons, soap-bubble tornadoes, and optical illusions as the effervescent Mr. B is transported to Bubblelandia, a blissful ocean utopia where colors explode and dreams take flight. Inspired by the artistry of Cirque du Soleil, this lavish Latvian production uses drama, mime, juggling, sand art, and theatrical magic to whisk families to an imaginary bubble world bursting with possibilities.
