This unique trio brings together three of the most respected musicians performing today. Since his arrival in New York from Santiago, Cuba, pianist David Virelles has garnered Best of Year recognition, Downbeat awards, multiple grants and commissions. William Parker is the “Philosopher-King” bassist of New York’s improvised music scene, a gentle but towering godfather renowned for his work with everyone from Fred Anderson to John Zorn. Detroit native Gerald Cleaver is one of the busiest, most in demand drummers in jazz. His work with Craig Taborn, Darius Jones, Roscoe Mitchell, Nels Cline and scores of others, as well as his work as the leader of Farmers By Nature and Black Host, has solidified his place among today’s elite percussionists.
