Enid Blechman was born in New York City and currently divides her time between coastal Florida and Easthampton, MA. She received the New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship and appeared in New American Painting. She was most recently a honors scholarship recipient at Savannah College of Art and Design, where she received a second Masters Degree of Fine arts in painting.  Her recent move to Florida raised environmental concerns and was the impetus for a new body of work. As founder and C.E.O. of the fictional corporation Adipose Industries, she explores the repurposing of human fat and has recently turned the ocean upside down to become the first astronaut of the sea.

UNDERWATER RESEACH and the EVERGLADES THE SEARCH FOR FAT

As the top scientist, artist and pataphysicist at the fictional Adipose Industries, I have created a multi-media company whose main focus is the theoretical securing and repurposing of fat for home and personal use. I base my science on anecdotal evidence, and on my innate inability to understand science or math. Recycling materials from man-made and natural sources I assemble and manipulate objects that evolve, develop and grow, often on their own accord. There are no formulas, no recipes and no directions for rewiring, disassembling and reconstruction. The only instructions are that there are no instructions for interpretation or use.
 
The belief that our planet must repurpose all its natural resources if it is to survive, has united both the artistic and scientific community. The tenuous bond of corporate America and our ecological imperatives has been cemented to create a company that sees the future and is trying to explain it.
