Bruce Hornsby & YMusic Present BrhyM

Bruce Hornsby’s fans come from a variety of places. Some have been with him since The Way It Is, his Grammy-winning 1986 debut album with The Range. Others signed on during his stint as keyboardist for the Grateful Dead in the early 1990s, during which time he performed in more than 100 concerts in North America and Europe. And still others at a host of points along the way through twenty-four albums — spanning such genres as rock, jazz, blues, and bluegrass — thirteen Grammy nominations, and three Grammy wins.

The latest chapter in Hornsby’s varicolored musical career finds him collaborating with the New York-based expansive chamber music sextet yMusic. Following on their work together on tracks for Hornsby’s albums Absolute Zero (2019) and ’Flicted (2022), Hornsby and yMusic came together in 2024 as BrhyM to release Deep Sea Vents. The album draws on Hornsby’s passion for underwater worlds and a shared love of musical innovation and concern for the environment to produce songs that pair gorgeous sonic seascapes with lyrics that paint an unflinching portrait of an ever worsening climate crisis.
