Bowker  UPDATE Performance will start at NOON (12:00 PM)
$7

The Folktales of Zora Neale Hurston feature several stories from the compilations Mules and Men and Every Tongue Got to Confess by the celebrated author and anthropologist, Zora Neale Hurston.  Ms. Hurston was a pre-eminent writer of twentieth-century African-American literature and closely associated with the Harlem Renaissance movement.

In this interactive presentation, actress Cheryl Howard portrays the role of Zora Neale Hurston and brings to life the folktales collected by Hurston during her travels.  Howard invites students to add to the story collection, in effect creating new stories of their own, allowing the audience to choose “what happens next” in the action!

This Literature to Life stage presentation is a newly devised program specifically geared to elementary audiences by the American Playhouse Theatre.
