In conjunction with the UMass High School Jazz Festival
Jazz pianist Zaccai Curtis has been a strong and stable presence in the jazz scene, participating in widely recognized projects by pianist Eddie Palmieri, trumpeter Brian Lynch, drummer Ralph Peterson, and saxophonist Donald Harrison. He brings the knockout percussionists in his Afro-Cuban Jazz Quartet; alongside his brother, Luques Curtis, acclaimed bassist to the virtual stage in a program ranging from Dizzy Gillespie to Machito. By honoring the blues harmonies and swing rhythms of the African-Caribbean-New Orleans music lineage within his own genre-bending style, Curtis has earned fans from multiple musical backgrounds and interests.
