The Underwater Bubble Show

Plunge into a glistening blend of laser technology, snow cannons, soap-bubble tornadoes, and optical illusions as the effervescent Mr. B is transported to Bubblelandia, a blissful ocean utopia where colors explode and dreams take flight. Inspired by the artistry of Cirque du Soleil, this lavish Latvian production uses drama, mime, dance, puppetry, juggling, sand art, and theatrical magic to whisk families to an imaginary bubble world bursting with possibilities.

Ever heard of Thin Film Interference? Probably not-- but you’ve experienced it every time you look at the colors on a soap bubble or a peacock feather. Explore some optical illusions, a Kaleidoscope, see beakers disappear and reappear before your very eyes using the index of refraction and more. Come early for the 6 p.m. Lobbyfest to find out how physics and science play a role in everyday life. Demonstrations are through the generous support of the UMass Physics Department in partnership with Heath Hatch and the students in the UMass Science Outreach Club

Air Play

Ride the wind and dream with Air Play, a modern spectacle that brings to life the very air we breathe. Flying umbrellas, larger-than-life balloons, giant kites floating over the audience, and the biggest snow globe you’ve ever seen will make you gasp in wonder and laugh until it hurts. With visual images seemingly sown from the sky, this poetic ode to childhood will enchant and electrify the young and young at heart. PLUS Revealing the Magic: Stay after the performance for a special presentation by the artists about their creative process.

Machine De Cirque

After five men survive the apocalypse, their only hope is to build a machine that will help them find other survivors. Armed with acrobatic talents and a generous heap of ingenuity, they’ll do whatever it takes to navigate this brave new world without telephones, computers, electricity…or women. The result is anything but grim. We find ourselves guests at a deliriously intoxicating party that is part circus, part slapstick, part rock concert, surprisingly moving, and a whole lot of awesome. At once side-splittingly hilarious and heart-tuggingly nostalgic, this show will make you stand up and clap for humanity.
