Snarky Puppy
Monday, April 10, 7:30 p.m.
“Maybe you didn’t notice, but this is Snarky Puppy’s world, and the rest of us only live in it." — The New York Times
Jazz, funk, rock, world music — and whatever else works — melded in a joyous outpouring of improvisational music by an ever-shifting lineup of outstanding instrumentalists. Snarky Puppy has evolved over the past 18 years from a fun, catch-all ensemble at the University of North Texas into an internationally acclaimed collective of highly accomplished session and stage musicians. Snarky Puppy’s members’ hold “day jobs” touring and recording with such artists as Erykah Badu, Snoop Dogg, and D’Angelo; producers for the likes of Kirk Franklin, David Crosby, and Salif Keïta; and as solo artists. Snarky Puppy is international. Japan, Argentina, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Puerto Rico, as well as the United States are represented. And their music wins Grammy awards (Best R&B Performance in 2014, Best Contemporary Instrumental Album in 2016 and 2017), and, most importantly, brings audience members to their feet. Join us for an evening of energetic, masterfully performed music. You’ll be thrilled that you did.
