The Healing Master of Lapis Lazuli Radiance
Healing in Tibetan Buddhism

Sunday, October 26, 2008
Yoga Sanctuary, Northampton, MA from 11:30 am to 1:30 pmAdvance $20, at the door $25, Five College Students and Seniors, $10
According to the Four Medical Tantras that are the basis of Tibetan medicine, the fundamental causes of disease are the three poisonous delusions that lead to imbalances of the bodily systems - ignorance, attachment, and hatred. Physical treatments cannot have a lasting effect unless accompanied by spiritual transformation. The Lapis Healing Master, (Medicine Buddha), one of the most honored figures in the Buddhist pantheon, is referred to as a great physician, the repetition of whose name and mantra is said to grant protection from worldly dangers and freedom from untimely death.
Professor Gardiner will review meditative practices in Buddhist traditions and the method of deity yoga in Tibetan Buddhism, after which Khen Rinpoche will give a Medicine Buddha blessing and lead a guided meditation in Medicine Buddha practice. A condensed text (sadhana) will be available for daily practice.
Open to all, regardless of prior initiation or practice.
This event is presented in partnership with the Friends of Khen Rinpoche , The Yoga Sanctuary at Thornes Market, Northampton, Pema Tseyang, Thondup Tsering, Pasang Norbu and members of the WMASS Tibetan Association.
