Alicia Hunsicker
Between The Darkness and The Light

Friday, April 4 - Tuesday, April 29 2008
Hampden Gallery Main SpaceFree and open to the public
Visual artist, Alicia Hunsicker UMASS '93, who lives and maintains her studio in Western Massachusetts, presents a new body of oil paintings in an exhibition entitled "Between The Darkness and The Light" at Hampden Gallery at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Hunsicker's work is self-reflective. Through her choice of subject matter, she explores the dualities of existence, particularly the integration between the shadow and light. In this new work, she considers the concept of pendulum, and the relationship of being and perceiving (the veils of perception).
Hunsicker, known for her rich palette and highly-detailed, symbolic figurative paintings, currently has work at Gallery in the Woods, Brattleboro, VT. Over the past decade, she has actively shown her work throughout the New England and more recently in Berlin, Germany, and Cameroon, West Africa.
