Born in Toronto, Jane Bunnett has devoted much of her professional life to the rich music of Cuba. Her latest project, Maqueque (“the spirit of a young girl”), pairs the gifted soprano saxophonist and flutist with some of Cuba’s most accomplished young female musicians. “If they’re coming anywhere near your town, go see them,” writes Jon Garelick.

7:30 pm Valley Jazz Network Presents a Listening Party and jam session at Gateway City Arts in Holyoke. NEPR’s Raquel Obregon will moderate the discussion followed by a jam session featuring members of Bomba de Aqui and Maqueque. Open to the public with a $15 suggested donation.
