Saturday, November 6, 12 – 3 pm, Zoom

In this practice-based workshop, Doctora Xingona will lead participants through multisensory writing, sound, and performance exercises to cultivate kinship, coalitional healing, and collective liberation for queer, nonbinary, and trans artists of color. Participants will be invited (but not required) to offer witnessing and/or to interweave their voices and art pieces into the evening concert containing excerpts from Doctora Xingona’s award-winning performance, Quiero Volver: A Xicanx Ritual Opera.

Quiero Volver/ I want to return...
A concert featuring music and poetry from Quiero Volver: A Xicanx Ritual Opera

Saturday, November 6, 7 pm, Zoom

Quiero Volver: A Xicanx Ritual Opera is a multisensory performance altar for queer, nonbinary, and trans artists of color to convene and manifest futures. In this ritual gathering, an ensemble of guides offer multi-sensory meditations on motherlessness and loss, resisting violence and oppression, and building chosen family. Quiero Volver centers transcendence, kinship, coalitional healing, and collective liberation. The performance features Doctora Xingona's original music and poemscript for ensemble performance, and documentary portraits from the BridgeSong Series, an intersectional, virtual liberation convening for artists to build coalitions for planetary healing and transformation
