A double-bill of films about women (and girls) who have decided to live as men (and boys): Introductory Speaker will be Professor Doris Bargen, Dept of Asian Languages & Literature 7:00PM SHINJUKU BOYS (Kim Longinotto & Jano Williams, 1995, 53 minutes) This fascinating documentary offers a portrait of the drag kings hosts (or onnabes) of Tokyo's New Marilyn Club who are considered "ideal men" by their female customers. 8:30PM REVOLUTIONARY GIRL UTENA: THE MOVIE (Kunikiko Ikuhara, 1999, 100 minutes) Based on a popular TV and manga series, Utena is the story of a magical tomboy orphan who masquerades as a schoolboy and becomes a great fighter. [please note: This film may not be suitable for very young viewers]
