The Maori Dance Theater of New Zealand People of the Pacific takes the audience on a colorful and exciting journey through the islands of Polynesia, including visits to Tahiti, Hawaii, Samoa, the Cook Islands and ending in Aotearoa, New Zealand. The show includes folkloric stories, action songs, games with audience participation and a question and answer session. Kahurangi meaning a “cloak from Heaven" is a professional company of artists trained at the Takitimu Performing Arts School in New Zealand. The Kahurangi Ensemble specializes in the performing arts and tribal traditions of Polynesian Island cultures especially of the Maoris. Wearing hand crafted regalia, brandishing authentic implements along with traditional chants, this show portrays the cultural pride and identity of these Island people.
