Kali Yuga is a dance drama commissioned and performed by Gamelan Sekar Jaya, an ensemble specializing in the music and dance of Bali, Indonesia. The performance will utilize a full Balinese gamelan orchestra and an array of dancers and theater artists. Supported by the National Dance Project, Kali Yuga will be a work of national and international importance, an intensive artistic response to the turmoil of our own times drawn from the ancient text of India's Mahabharata epic.
Funded in part by the National Dance Project of the New England Foundation for the Arts, with lead funding from Doris Duke Charitable Foundation. Additional funding provided by The Ford Foundation and The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
