Bio:
Michael Goering was born in Vreden/Westfalen (Germany). He studied painting at the Art Academy in Muenster and later worked as a curator at the Förderverein Aktuelle Kunst Münster.
He is the recipient of several awards including the Förderpreis Bildende Kunst, GWK Münster, and the Arbeitsstipendium Pilotprojekt Gropiusstadt Berlin
His work has been shown at numerous group and solo exhibitions to include: "Sozialpalast"-Kunstprojekt, Münster, "sozialpalast", International Short Film Festival, Oberhausen, Open House", Speicher II, Münster, "LiteraturParcour", Osnabrück,„elektrant“, Kunstwerk, Cologne, Einsame Spitze“, Kunstverein Schwäbisch Hall
Artist’s Statement:
Michael Goering is a visual artist and musician who is interested in the things of everyday life. For his installation in the Incubator Project Space he will use ordinary things-- furniture or other objects, which he will combine or remodel in order to reveal their poetic potential...
During his visit to campus from Germany, he plans to select objects from thrift stores and other low cost or free sites. He will work with the objects on site and see what they have to tell.
