Six of One, Half Dozen of the Other: Twelve printmakers explore the serial nature of printmaking
Opening Reception: April 5, 5-7pm

Tuesday, April 5 - Tuesday, April 26
In this exhibition, the viewer is invited to see and feel the process of twelve artists making creative decisions. Featuring a wide variety of printmaking techniques, subjects and styles, the common experience is that in each group of work, we see the artist making compositional, color, descriptive, and expressive choices. One idea, one print, leads to another, and another. An image develops, colors are changed, the pace slows, quickens. What happens next? The process of making prints inspires variations on themes and the process itself is a sort of story. The plate is developed and different ways of printing the plate are tried, producing proofs of the stages of a print en route to the final version. Avenues of thought not taken can be revisited in different iterations of prints.
