The collaboration of jazz saxophonist Miguel Zenón and string ensemble Spektral Quartet provides an opportunity to merge their backgrounds of jazz and classical music. This performance comes from Zenón’s desire to create a concert-length suite to honor and explore the culture of his native Puerto Rice. The work does not fit into a single genre, but rather takes advantage of the strengths of jazz, classical, and folks music to create this eight-part tour of a unique cultural landscape.
