"He is dazzling audiences around the world with his astonishing virtuosity"- BBC Music Magazine

Purbayan is accepted as the most gifted torchbearer of the Senia-Maihar Gharana (school) of Baba Alauddin Khan and has become a powerful force in the Indian Classical Music scene. From a very young age, Purbayan displayed an uncanny skill for all the virtuous and artistic dimensions of the Sitar instrument. His music is aesthetically satisfying as hearing a concert by the late Nikhil Bannerjee. A well known as a Sitarist, he is also acknowledged as a great vocalist.

Purbayan has performed at many music festivals around the world including the Bath International Music Festival, Brighton Festival, and WOMAD in the UK; the International Music Symposium and Millenium Festival WDR Koln in Germany; the Port Fairy Folk Festival, Australia; The North Sea Jazz Festival, Capetown; World Music Festival, Chicago; and the Al-Bustan Festival in Lebanon. Purbayan has represented India in all the major India Festivals organized by the Government of India and other organizations in Bangladesh, Nepal, New Zealand, Australia, Indonesia, Seychelles, Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean, United States, Canada, UK, Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, France, Abu Dhabi, Muscat, Dubai, Singapore, Belgium, etc.
