William Parker Ensemble
The Curtis Mayfield Project

Wednesday, April 3, 2002
Buckley Recital Hall, Amherst College, at 8 pm$9 for the general public; $6 for students
For the second year in a row, the Magic Triangle Jazz Series is proud to present William Parker, whom the Village Voice has called, "the most consistently brilliant free jazz bassist of all time." This year, Mr. Parker will offer his Curtis Mayfield Project, using compositional material left us by the great singer, performer and civil rights leader. The concert will pair Parker's septet (Amiri Baraka, Dave Burrell, Hamid Drake, and others) with a 25-person gospel choir. Eremite Records will record this concert.
